Bad news that’s been going around:

Don’t you hate it when you get on a blog or social media or something and people are just talking about how much their life sucks? For some reason I can’t jive with that. I can deal with some one saying that they do or don’t like something, or if your life right now is very hard but…you don’t have the worst life. You don’t even come close, just fuck off. You’re a living, breathing human being that is alive in one of the most exciting times ever. The world can and will be completely different next week, TRY to embrace it. I get that it’s hard being a parent to small and dependent children but no one has to hear about every mess one has to clean up. Nor is there a need, for anyone that didn’t directly ask, to know about how much sleep you’ve been deprived of. Plus, children didn’t just happen to you, there is a nine month period to decide if you want a new child in you life. In this society, one chooses to have or keep babies, you made a choice and now we all have to suffer or pity you a little bit? It’s my choice now. I’m not your “friend” anymore because the only thing your updates do is bring me down, then when that happens I have to fight the urge to comment with something like this paragraph I’m writing now.

That last part may have crossed a line. I’m sorry if it offends anyone but it’s my belief that if you want a child or don’t want to give it up for adoption, you shouldn’t bitch and moan all the time about having to take care of a child.

Not all parents on Facebook or twitter and the like are like this and I admire that very much. I want to know about YOU. I want to get inside YOUR head, not inside the droppings of your spawn.

That having been said, about the negativity and such, this week hasn’t been too great. there is suspicion that my credit card company turned me into a collection agency. But I’m getting that taken care of. It’s a big deal but not as big a one as I was thinking.

The biggest bummer is that Kristin and I may have to take Zale to the SPCA. I didn’t think I was so attached to him but I guess when someone cries because they want you petting them while they try to sleep, the two of you have a connection. Kristin and I barely have enough to make sure that the two of us are taken care of, we just don’t have the money for vet bills and constant medication. If it were a one time thing, there would be no reason not to but because we’re drained financially and we’d have to spend lots of money on medication every month, I can’t see keeping him. When Kristin basically said he HAS to go I cried. I cried as much as I ever have for any pet that had died or ran away on me…maybe more, which isn’t a whole lot but still, I was crestfallen. Things will work out though. One way or another, Zale will get the help he needs and will be in a place where he’s loved as much as if not more than he is here. and if that place IS HERE, I’ll be extremely happy.

On to happier stuff:

Since my last post, Cute Scenarios completed our second album. I know I said It would be called Tonight The Moon Shines For Us but I decided that title was too long. So the title is now Cosmic Ocean. Cosmic ocean is half of a line in one of the songs on the album and I think it’s a great description for the night sky.

Cute Scenarios has also started work on album 3. I think the music is almost done but it’s too early to say. I’d have to get my hard drive back to working condition to know. I do know that it is close, though, the album 3 that is. We started recording vocals and I gotta say, Chantal is killing it. Her melodies are amazing and barring some ticks, the takes we’re getting are rock hard. It’s a little bit of a darker, harder album but oh man, it’s so good.

I tried Freebirds! today, for the first time. The food there is really good (worth nine points). They serve Pepsi (worth two points). They play some great music (That’s worth five points…yeah, it’s that important). They have a “we’re corporate but we’re weird hippies…freakout!” atmosphere(negative two points). I don’t have this rating system worked out, but I’ll tell you it’s worth a recommendation. If you haven’t, try a Freebirds! burrito.

I’ll try to update more. I’ve got to make an honest effort one of these days, before all I talk about is how my kids run around and annoy me.

I was out to get the mail, listening to covers that I want Cute Scenarios to play. There weren’t a whole lot of them, only two, then I decided to listen to the new mixes once I turned the Rock EQ off it sounded amazing. Clear but not too perfect, you know. It had some roughness to it…in a good way.

I noticed that the album has a very “nighttime” feel to it. As to how it has that feel, I can’t explain. I’ve listened to it in the day and in the night…and in the night it SHINES. As I’m realizing this, I look up and see clouds in the sky. No moon, just clouds and a few stars. Stars are extremely rare for Houston.

It’s coming to song 7 which the lyrics describe a “cosmic ocean”. While looking up at the infinite sky that was  pushing clouds forward, I felt like a cloud in a cosmic ocean of my own. After I came back down, I was looking for a car to lean on and just watch the sky for the next 3 songs.

I found an SUV. Perfect, they finally have a use! Now I’m cloud gazing. At least three years had passed since I had a good cloud gazing session. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this grey shape take form. It was the most whimsical thing I’d seen in a long time. What appeared to me was the shape of a toy maker creating dreams. Horses, Fish and wind-up toy soldiers. I’d imagine him creating in a way almost like the clouds in the Pixar short Partly Cloudy.
This was probably the most calming experience I’ve had in a while. Everyone should could gaze at the dead of night once in a while.

Not what I saw but you get my point.

I hate doing it. It KILLS momentum. I will say however that it is easier to do it when recording than it is to do it in mixing. It’s a bitch because if you don’t take those crucial 30 minuets, you’re pretty much ruining the mix.

Monday, I this happened to me. I was working and everything was going great. I think I only took two 10min breaks and worked for like 4 hours. I overloaded the mixes literally and myself physically. Some of the bass on those songs were to the point of distortion. I think these will be easy problems to fix, I just have to find the time to do it.

This was a precautionary tale to all the mixers out there!

At ABC, Thursday morning  is meeting time. Since I work at night, I just sleep in my car Wednesday night/Thursday morning waiting for the meeting.

One Thursday morning I was really, really hungry so I decided to get some breakfast. I’m not usually one for breakfast but that morning I was craving donuts and when I want donuts I get Shipley’s. This was about 4-5 in the morning. I didn’t know which stores were open But I knew the 24hr store on the Katy freeway was. So I went there. Of course the lobby was closed. I should have known better but I had a feeling that the drive-thu was functional.

No cars were there, and no one was at the window for a few seconds, then the lady walked up and asked what I wanted. “A dozen donut holes and a chocolate milk.” She said that they weren’t ready and it would be a three minuet wait. I said “that’s fine, I’ll wait.” She looked surprised and then handed me the milk after the 3 minuets she came back.

I pulled out and parked in the lot.  For some reason I thought it would be exactly like all the other donut holes I’ve ever had. My mind just thought “a Shipley’s donut hole is a Shipley’s donut hole”. Blindly, I popped one in my mouth and something felt different. It was melting in my mouth! I then realized the last few steps this bag of donut holes have taken. Oven, Glase, my mouth (via paper bag). On top of all that, they were so gooy. My hand had all kinds of sticky residue on them once I finished the dozen; I’m suprised I could still drive.

I don’t think I can go back to eating regular donuts. It will be hard but it has to be done.

That’s a story to tell the grand kids. That is also the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

I really don’t like it. The job does equal money…but it causes so much stress and  Anxiety that it’s not worth it anymore.

Last night was pretty cool. We stayed around Harwin and didn’t get mugged or anything. Some random person just walked into Bombay Sweets while we were working; I think Josie didn’t lock the door when he came back in.

My dad is the head supervisor of the commercial division. That is kind of making things a little more harder than they need to be. Not because he’s coming down on me or anything, but the other guys I work with think I’m suspect. They think I’ll rat them out if they’re doing something wrong. If I am, I’m not trying to but I think that’s another reason why he wants me there. So it’s like I’m in The Departed…but I’m Leo. ewww.

I’ll post more in the weekend. I have at least 2 cool things to talk about. One involves my new band; the other involves donuts!
